A happy and a hopefully prosperous New Year to
all.
I just thought that you would like to know that
VOSA have now made available the consolidated edition of the new 2012 HGV
Inspection Manual and other associated documents. As with everything from VOSA,
I understand that the documentation is only available online, by going to:
Changes to the HGV annual test were introduced
from the beginning of this year - 1 January 2012. However, VOSA have already
made it known that if a vehicle is presented and it has what is now designated
as a defect, taking into account the new requirements, examiners have been
instructed to mark these as advisories and not failures, until April
2012.
I would advise all operators and nominated Transport Managers
to take time to look through the new manual and other documentation, or at least
to ensure that their maintenance providers are fully aware of the changes, to
ensure first time pass rates are not compromised, thereby affecting the company
OCRS. Always remember, when it comes to the operator licence it is the
operator who is responsible for the maintenance standards, irrespective of what
contractual agreement there is with a third party maintenance
provider.
